Here we go again, writing these weekly posts highlights how quickly the weeks go by. Its been over two weeks since I started this blog and already I feel like I’ve had so much support for someone who’s new to this world.
I feel like this is going to be a rather short Sunday Summary, as I look back on my week not much has happened. I wrote my last post from a hotel room as I was away for work. I’m trying to be a little more organised this time and I have to confess, I’m writing some of this on a Friday (sshh don’t tell). My days off, have fallen in the week, which therefore means I have to get my butt to work on the weekend, whilst everyone else parties and relaxes.
I guess I’ll start with my visual summary of the week, as you can probably tell by now I’m always watching something on TV. It’s in my blood, the rest of my family are all the same. We’re about half way through The Returned and my oh my it just gets better and better. It has really blown the US one out of the water. I think I said this in my last Sunday post but it’s so much darker and gritty. The French are really not afraid to get down to the nitty gritty. Another show I’ve just finished is ‘Never Tear Us Apart’ about the Australian band INXS. I guess you’d call it more of a TV movie, rather than a show. I like to pop something on in the background whilst I’m in the kitchen, however with this I ended up sitting down and not doing what I was intending to do in the kitchen. I wasn’t overly familiar with INXS and was very surprised to know more of their songs than I originally thought. I was however, familiar with Michael Hutchence, who was undeniably a bit of a babe. I was always a sucker for these types of dramas, especially about musicians, I remember being obsessed with the one that was made about Karen Carpenter and another about The Temptations, so when I saw they were doing this I was all over it. This was an intriguing story, that had me truly captivated. It certainly lives up to the tales of sex, drugs and rock and roll and I thought they handled Michael Hutchence’s premature death, really sensitively, as there was lots of controversy surrounding this. The acting was pretty decent, especially the actor who played Hutchence and considering many of the actors were playing well known celebrities of our time, like Bono and Kylie Minogue. The part I loved and always love, when it comes to these types of shows is when they do the montage at the end consisting of real footage of the band or singers. This one was done really well. It ends with a performance by the real INXS meshed together with clips from their time on the road. It’s definitely got me adding the odd INXS tune to my google playlist.
Talking of music I just have to say I’ve been obsessed with listening to the pop bands of the late 90s. Yes, Yes I do realise this is really sad, but this was my hey day people and I felt like reliving it. In fact my Aunty often says I’m stuck in a time warp, when it comes to my taste in music. I couldn’t even tell you who’s popular in the charts at the moment (is there even a chart anymore??). However I can tell you about my revived love for Westlife, Steps, Early Enrique, Britney, Christina, Blue the list goes on and on.It takes me back to being 13, watching Top of the Pops and recording all my favourite performances on the video player, the good old days. It’s also what’s been helping the creative juices flow, when writing these posts, so you can blame the dodgy cheesy 90s music if the posts aren’t up to parr. I’m hoping adding INXS in there brings the street cred up.
We had our friends over for dinner Friday night, which was lovely. I went full on housewife mode and made most of the dishes from scratch. Including one Banoffee Pie and one Lemon Drizzle cake. We did a clean eating beef stew and everything went down a treat. I was super excited because I’d just purchased some uber cool Gatsby style champagne saucers, so I got to crack those beauties out. As we have very much indulged this weekend, Chris and I didn’t feel much like going for brunch Saturday Morning, so I’m sorry but unfortunately this week there’s no new cafe to review in this summary. I promise the next one will be way more interesting.
On the D.I.Y front, you may have seen this post already but I finished the lamp. I’m really pleased with how it turned out, even if it was testing on our relationship haha. Make sure you check it out. I went and met up with my aunty during the week, who helped me pick out some fabric for my next project… A headboard, I also got some really cool upholstery pins to use as a trim. Keep your beady eyes on the look out for that. I’m so excited to get that one underway as I really think it’ll transform our room.
Sebastian has been a little strange this week, I’m thinking it’s the weather. We’ve been having highs of 21 degrees and it’s mid winter. I think he just doesn’t know what to do with himself, but to throw a strop and not eat. In order to entice him back, we popped over to Animates to get some treats. We came out with some chicken jerky and another cat…in my dreams. I have a love hate relationship with that place. I love it, because I could just sit there all day looking at the puppies and kittens up for adoption. I hate it because I want to free them and take them all home with me. Today sadly I left with just treats for little monkey but, maybe one day we’ll make the family bigger.
Well that’s really about it for our week in a nutshell. Sorry it’s been rather boring, it’s all probably really boring if you’re not my family. Next week might be a little light on the post front. I have a huge week at work with a really important check that I need to get my a into g and get studying for. However we’ve got some cool things coming up, including going to see a play for our date night, a first for the both of us and Chris is going away with working for fancy awards evening, we even had to hire a suit for the event today.
Once again thank you so much for reading, even though I know it’s mostly you, Mum! All of your support is so greatly appreciated.
Have a lovely, beautiful enjoyable week ahead.
