Peanut Maple Granola Recipe

Since I haven’t done a recipe since my Heart Warming Chicken Soup post, I thought I would mix it up and show you one of my all time favourite breakfasts. This Granola is super easy to make, will last for around 3-4 weeks in an air tight jar (If it even lasts that long) and its pretty darn healthy. So with all that said and done here’s how to make it…
IMG_3145What you’ll need:

  • 2 Tbsp Honey
  • 2 Tbsp Maple Syrup
  • 1/4 cup Pic’s Peanut Butter Unsalted
  • 2 Tbsp Chia Seeds
  • 1/2 Tsp Vanilla Extract
  • 1/2 Tsp Cinnamon
  • 1.5 cups of Wholegrain Oats
  • Pinch of Salt
  • Sprinkle in your favourite nuts and seeds, I use a mixture of Pumpkin seeds, Walnuts, Slivered Almonds, Sesame Seeds or feel free to pop some Goji Berries or Dried Cranberries.

Method

Preheat Oven to 180 Fan

  1. Mix the Honey, Maple Syrup and Peanut Butter in a microwavable bowl. Once mixed well microwave for 20 seconds and stir again.
  2. Add in the Chia Seeds, Vanilla Extract, Cinnamon and the salt and stir well.
  3. Place the wet ingredients into a larger bowl make sure to use a spatula to get as much of the mixture out into the new bowl. Add in the oats, make sure to add a little at a time, to ensure the oats are covered completely with the wet mixture.
  4. Next add in your desired extras. If you find it’s a little dry add in a little more Honey and Maple syrup to the mix.
  5. Spread the mixture evenly over a baking tray covered in baking paper.
  6. Place in the oven and cook for 15-20 mins, turning the granola over half way through. Be sure to keep and eye on it as it tends to burn pretty fast.

So there you have it! I like to have mine with unsweetened natural yoghurt, chopped pears, grapes and strawberries and a little drizzle of honey. It would also be amazing as a parfait, in a cute glass with lots of yummy berries in between. Enjoy with a glass of coconut water and you’re set for the day.

Let me know if you try this

August Monthly Beauty Favourites

Yes, Yes I know I haven’t blogged for a little while now, but life has unfortunately got in the way as it sometimes does. However, I’m back and as a new month has begun (I can not believe it’s September already) I thought I would begin with what I was loving in the past month.

Now this month I’ve managed to narrow it down to 6 items in total, 5 of which I absolutely adore, one that I am firmly on the fence about.

IMG_3133First up is the CHI CHI Fabulous and Flawless Foundation. I was all in a panic when I ran out of my all time fave L’oreal True Match, as here in NZ it is ridiculously over priced. So I thought it was time to move on and try something else. After watching a favourite foundation video from Shannon of  Shaaanxo fame, she recommend this foundation and I’m so glad I tried it. I got the shade No.7, which is great for me and my post winter skin. It’s medium to full coverage, with a sheen like finish to it. Price wise it is around $39 NZD, which I felt isn’t too bad and the container is glass, which for some reason I find really satisfying.

IMG_3129Next up is the Yes to Carrots Nourishing Daily Facial Moisturiser SPF 15. I have been using this for around two months now and I obviously love it. It is, as it states very nourishing, but doesn’t leave my skin feeling oily. It has a built in SPF which makes me feel better especially when you live in NZ. It also hasn’t caused me to break out which is a massive thumbs up. I just picked this up in the supermarket and I can’t wait to try out some more in the range very soon.

IMG_3135Thirdly in the top favourites of the month, comes and oldie but a goodie. Maybellines Great lash Mascara in the Lots of Lashes formula. I first tired this version of  the cult classic mascara about two and a half years ago, when I first moved to NZ, after needing a mascara that wasn’t going to break the bank and it was love at first application. It has a teardrop shaped tapered wand, which is excellent for creating both length and volume. It also means you can use the narrow end to get those pesky inner corner lashes. This is now back in my life after my Collection Mascara dried out, which is one massive downside of that amazing mascara (man how many times can you say mascara in one paragraph)

IMG_3137 To be completely honest, I wasn’t entirely sure if this was going to make the cut this month, but recently it’s been my eyeliner of choice. The Benefit They’re Real Push Up Liner, bar the really long name does just what it says on the tin. The funny shaped applicator really does pull your lashes up, allowing the gel liner to really get deep into the lashes, so that you are left with this beautiful opaque line. I also love the angle of the applicator, because it makes the dreaded feline flick a real doddle. The pigmentation is great with a true deep black shade and the longevity is awesome, no smudgy panda eyes up in here! All in all a pretty impressive gel liner, gimmicks aside.

IMG_3139Lastly in my most loved items this month comes another old favourite. After having a huge clear out of my make up collection, I came across this little gem; the Nars Angelika Blush.I’m a huge blush person, I just feels like it gives my skin life and I love me a Nars blush, in fact I’ll even go as far as to say they are my holy grail when it comes to blush. This is a baby pink shade with flecks of silver glitter running through it, which doesn’t thankfully transfer onto the cheek, it just provides a beautiful sheen. If you’re looking for something peppy and perky then this may well be the match for you, layer it on top of a similar cream formula shade for a doll like fresh faced cheek.

IMG_3142Very finally I thought I would just add this baby into the mix as I’m very much on the fence about it. It’s the Body shop Instablur all in one perfecter. The reason that I’m on the fence about this is actually because I’m just waiting for it to fully break me out, I’ve noticed a few blemishes popping up. It has that silicone type texture akin to the likes of the SmashBox Photo Ready Primer, which doesn’t react well with my skin. It does however, mattify my skin and fill in the pores, which for me is a huge plus. Weather it actually does help my foundation last longer is still on trial and the jury is definitely still out on weather or not it’s giving me that blurred like effect that seems to be so popular at the moment.

So everyone there you have it, what I’ve been loving this month. I hope this has been helpful in same way for you all, let me know what it is you’ve been loving this month. Once again I apologise for being M.I.A.
