The Sunday Summary

The Mid Week Update

So, I know there hasn’t been a Sunday Summary for 2 weeks now and for that I apologise (even though I’m sure it’s only my mum that’s interested). However, I thought I would do a mid week, hopefully quick catch up of the events that have taken place.

You know by now how much I love my binge telly watching and the past two weeks have been no expectation to the rule. I’ve, as bad as it is to admit, finished the most recent season of the Real Housewives of New York and am on the penultimate episode of the original, Orange County season. Chris reckons all they do is argue and it kind of stresses him out, but I kinda love it, it’s really addictive car crash tv. I’ve also been watching Dawson’s Creek from the beginning. My tv watching was monitored when I was younger and this was a programme that 10 year old me was banned from watching, along with Power Rangers and Shorthand Street. I’m really enjoying reliving the 90s and the teen angst. However, I can very much see why I wasn’t allowed to watch, thanks Ma.

One thing I did want to mention was a play that Chris and I went to on date night about two weeks ago. It was at the Court Theatre here in Christchurch, called Ache. It was really good. Both Chris and I are play newbs, so really didn’t know what to expect. It was very intimate, with a great soundtrack, beautiful acting and a storyline that was both engaging and relatable. The intimate setting was a little awkward to start but once the story started to unfold you found yourself forgetting that it wasn’t real, well I did anyway. It really got us thinking it was something we should do more often.

On that very same date night we also went to Tequila Mocking Bird, on Victoria St. It is a, I guess Latin type restaurant, where you share tapas type dishes, which is my favourite, that way you get to try a little bit of everything. The two highlights, were the jug of sangria, so good in fact we had two and the ice cream sandwich dessert. Definitely worth checking out, if you haven’t already. The staff were really friendly and it had a cool interior. I’d recommend going on a week night. We went on a Tuesday and it was lovely and quiet.

I also took a little trip up to Auckland to visit my parents last week. Mum and I decided to go for a wine tasting at the Villa Maria Winery, whilst Dad and my brother played golf, well actually mini golf. I’d never done a wine tasting before, but had always wanted to try one. For a mere $5 per person, which is redeemable on any purchase, you got to try 5 different wines. We went from a bubbly to a beautiful Pinot Noir. My palette isn’t very mature, but the lovely girl that did the tasting for us was so informative that she had me smelling and tasting different flavours within the wine that I never knew were there. I left with a sparkling rose and a pinot noir, which are now sitting in my pantry waiting to be devoured. Next time I’m up in Auckland, I’ll definitely be making mum take us back for one of their delicious looking platters.

So I think I’ll leave it there for my mid week update. I’ve finally got the weekend off this week, so there will most certainly be a Sunday Summary and selfie on its way.
Peace out

About me

A life that’s good…

So, why am I here? why did I decide to venture into the realms of blogging?

Actually this is my third venture into blogging, which you can both read and look at below (get excited). I had started a Youtube channel many many moons ago (almost 5 years to be exact) and unfortunately due to many different reasons, I just could never EVER keep up and keep it flowing. I also tried to keep it as secret as possible as I was so scared of people thinking it was silly or a joke. And no I’m not saying that this whole Blogging world is going to be any easier, I mean who knows if anyone is even going to read this, but its is for me, far more convenient. Having a blog means I don’t have to sit in the most awkward positions, in the most awkward angle just so I can get the right lighting for my video. You can basically blog anywhere and thats what I love about reading blogs as 9 out of 10 times there’s always lots of fun new content.

I had started a blog to coincide with my YouTube channel at the time, but I was so hopeless with that one and I left it sad and neglected, but if you would like a good laugh you’ll find it here it features 1 post of embarrassing photo’s and an a-hmm old boyfriend haha . I promise I’ll be a better with this one.

Anyhow I really did not mean to make this a ramble of a first post, although if you stick around you’ll soon notice that I do love a good old ramble or a waffle as many of my English teachers used to comment. I wanted to just say Hi and explain where I’m hoping to take this blog.

A life that’s good is actually the title of a song from one of my favourite telly programmes of the moment and I just thought it fits perfectly with everything I want this place to be about. I first started my Youtube channel focused on all things beauty as that is what I love, as a trained make up artist and addict. However as I’m getting older, my interests and hobbies have evolved and changed as my life changes. I love health and well being and any new fad that comes along with this. I’ve also seen myself giving the old Do It Yourself a try recently and wanted to share some tips and tricks that I’ve learnt along the way and also get some much needed advice as I am renowned for winging things.

I’m hoping this blog becomes a place where people can come and read and share and learn. I know these interests to some may seem ‘fluffy’ but to a big community out there it can be the hobby that keeps you going and the perfect escapism.

So, In a nutshell this is what I aim to achieve with this blog, I’m a little nervous about putting myself out there but whats life without a little bit of fear. So stick around and follow Me, My Boyfriend Chris and Our Cat Sebastian ‘Monkey’ (as pictured above, because who doesn’t love a cute cat picture) as we try and obtain A Life That’s Good.
